Sam McCaskill joined Thornton Oliver Keller’s land brokerage team in 2018, following a highly successful collegiate experience at Boise State University where he played football. Sam’s experiences at Boise State solidified his decision to make the community his home. Although he grew up in Eugene, Oregon, Sam has made the Boise area his new residence because of the passion he feels for this community, and the opportunities it has provided him with.

Mentored by Michael Ballantyne, the firm’s partner and one of the area’s most successful land brokers, Sam has gained a significant breadth of commercial real estate brokerage knowledge and is perfecting the nuanced requirements of commercial land representation. Sam assists clients with the following:

• Market competition studies
• Property tours
• Prospecting
• Land development requirements, procedures and best practices
• Contract negotiation
• Land use regulations and entitlements


Sam is a graduate of Boise State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management and Logistics in 2016. While he was a student- athlete, he was recognized as a top performer in the classroom and obtained all academic awards presented by the conference. After graduating, he capitalized on an incredible opportunity to play professional football for the Minnesota Vikings where he enjoyed experiencing the game at the most elite level.


Sam enjoys spending his time outside of the house. He’s passionate about the area, and takes full advantage of all the recreational activities Idaho has to offer. His Bronco pride keeps him actively involved with the university and Student- athlete mentoring.
