The Shopko on 17th Street in Idaho Falls officially closed its doors last month. The former big-box retailer vacated over 90,000 square feet, driving up overall retail vacancy to 8.76%, the highest it’s been in 12 months.
Two former Kmart buildings (located in Idaho Falls and Ammon) were recently purchased by U-Haul, as the company continues its acquisition of vacant buildings across the U.S., converting the structures into climate-controlled self-storage centers. The Idaho Business Review wrote an interesting article about the Eastern Idaho transactions and U-Haul's plans for the future.
