Jim Boyd joined Thornton Oliver Keller in 2012 as a member of our Investment brokerage team. Jim, a talented real estate professional with over 30 years of commercial brokerage experience, is a critical part of our company’s well respected and distinguished reputation in the marketplace. A graduate of Boise State University, Mr. Boyd’s ties to the local community run deep and strong. Jim also served 22 years, between the U.S. Army Reserve and the Idaho National Guard, retiring in 1997 at the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Jim’s extensive knowledge of commercial real estate provides all who work with him access to an unmatched skill set which encompasses market dynamics, sales, negotiation, marketing and transaction management expertise. A large number of Mr. Boyd’s clients have utilized his brokerage services for decades, a testament to the fact that his business relationships are built to last. A true professional, Jim’s integrity and expertise are hallmark traits of his business dealings.
Jim has represented several regional and national firms during his career, including Hewlett Packard, Tyson Foods, Cradlepoint and Weyerhaeuser Company.
Jim is the past President and Owner of the J.L. Boyd Company, a commercial real estate company that was founded in 1994 and merged with Thornton Oliver Keller in 2012. Mr. Boyd’s prior entrepreneurial ownership and management experience positions him well as he advises private and corporate investors, offering insight and advice that are sought after.

Jim’s commitment to community is thoroughly evident in his involvement with the Boise Area Chamber of Commerce and his service on the Board of Directors for Capital Matrix, Inc. (a non-profit corporation that administers the 504 Program for the Small Business Association).
Mr. Boyd is a graduate of Leadership Boise, has served on the Boise City Design Review Committee and has served as a Commissioner for the North Ada County Fire District.

Jim and his wife enjoy the quality of life that Southwest Idaho has to offer. They also enjoy R.V. traveling as time allows.
